European Cultural Heritage Summit 2023 in Venice, registrations open by 15 September
The European Cultural Heritage Summit 2023 is a key annual ‘rendez-vous’ for cultural heritage stakeholders in Europe, organised by Europa Nostra and co-funded by the European Union.
Coinciding with Europa Nostra’s 60th Anniversary, the 2023 Summit will take place between 27 and 30 September in the unique but endangered World Heritage City of Venice. The choice of Venice has a highly symbolic value. The European history and significance of this historic city, combined with its breathtaking yet fragile beauty, has always been at the very heart of the mission of Europa Nostra.
The Venice Summit comes at a time of important recent developments for Europa Nostra. This includes the European Heritage Hub project, which will hold its first public event in Venice. The European Heritage Hub Forum will demonstrate that cultural heritage is a strategic resource for an effective climate action in Europe and beyond. We also look forward to welcoming you to our annual European Heritage Policy Agora, which this year will focus on the essential role of culture and heritage for fostering a sense of European Cultural Citizenship.
During the summit, the winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2023 will be celebrated at the European Heritage Awards Ceremony in the presence of Cecilia Bartoli, President of Europa Nostra, and Margaritis Schinas, European Commission Vice-President for Promoting our European Way of Life.
The Summit programme also features the New European Bauhaus Venice Local Chapter Event “An Ode to Beauty”, organised in partnership with TBA21/Ocean Space, Sumus, Venice Urban Lab and two universities from Venice: Ca’ Foscari and IUAV.
On the eve of the Summit, we are also organising the Lecture “Art and Cultural Heritage in Wartime Ukraine” by our Vice-President Natalia Moussienko, in partnership with Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia and the Council of Europe Programme Office in Venice; as well as the Local Award Ceremony for the Royal Gardens of Venice, in partnership with the Venice Gardens Foundation. Due to limited capacity, the participation in these two events is upon invitation only.
