Matteo Politi, the fake Italian physician, has been placed under judicial control, thus being released from custody.

The decision was made on Thursday by the District 1 Court and was not challenged by the prosecutors, digi24.ro reports.

The Italian is banned to leave Bucharest and Ilfov County without the approval of the criminal institution, of the judge for rights and freedoms or of the court.

He is also banned from practicing medicine and has to periodically deliver information about the means of living.

Matteo Politi, the Italian who graduated only 9 grades and impersonated a physician, performing plastic surgery in Romania, was remanded in early February. He had been caught at Curtici customs, trying to flee from Romania.

Politi, aka Matthew Mode, was charged with fraud. His lawyer claims the graduating diploma issued by the Medicine University in Pristina has been attested by the Education Ministry.

The Italian received the seal code from the Medical Bureau for Information and Bio-statistics on March 23, 2018. The employee who issued the document has been disciplinary transferred until the investigation is completed, the Public Health Directorate informed.

According to capital.ro, Politi performed surgery in four private clinics: Euromedical, Prestige, MH Medical Group and Monza. He pretended he was a plastic surgeon.

Monza Hospital Group reacted to the scandal regarding the Italian fake physician by saying that Mathew Mode (Matteo Politi) operated only once on one patient, then the collaboration ended. The company says it is an injured party in this case and has initiated the judicial procedures against Matteo Politi.
