The first case of West Nile infection this season was confirmed for an octogenarian man in Galaţi, according to data posted on the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) website.
“In the 2019 season, during June 3-July 18, 2019, one case of West Nile virus infection was recorded, in week 27. The confirmed case was recorded in the age group of over 80, a man, with his domicile in Galati County,” INSP informs.
To prevent West Nile virus infection, INSP specialists recommend that people avoid contacts with mosquitos, use repellents against mosquitoes, use insecticides in the home and around the home, install window nets, ensure the drainage of ponds around households and remove standing water and household waste, hotnews.ro reports.
The West Nile virus infection made 30 victims in Romania in 2018.
