Five Romanian citizens have died and three others have been injured in an accident near Vienna, a press release of the Foreign Ministry (MAE) informs.
“Five citizens have died and three have been injured, two of which are in serious condition. The injured people were urgently transported to the hospital for medical care and a mobile consular team of the diplomatic mission will go to the hospital where the Romanian citizens are hospitalized to see the health status and to provide consular assistance. The diplomatic mission supports the families of the deceased in order to issue the death certificates and the repatriation of the dead bodies,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
According to the quoted source, according to the data obtained hitherto, the accident involved a van registered in Romania, on board of which there were 8 Romanian citizens.
MAE states that the diplomatic mission has undertaken, as a matter of emergency, steps to the local authorities to obtain additional information on the circumstances of the accident, the health of the injured persons, but also to confirm their identity.
The Romanian Embassy in Austria maintains the contact with local authorities and the families of the victims and is ready to provide consular assistance, depending on the request, MAE also informs.
