Frost wave in the Balkan peninsula. Temperatures drop below 10C in Romania

A wave of cold air will seize the Balkan peninsula, bringing snowfall, blizzard, strong wind and freezing cold by January 9, Severe-weather.eu reported.

The most affected countries will be the ones in southern and eastern Europe, Balkan peninsula, but the cold will also reach Turkey, Italy and eastern Mediterranean.

Temperatures will drop below 20C in some areas in Romania, while in Bucharest there will be minus 10C during the night. The weather will get warmer only at the end of the week when temperatures will range from minus 2C to 6 C. Snowfall will prevail in the mountains, but also in the southern and southeastern areas, but however, it will be warmer.

The night of Tuesday to Wednesday will bring snowfall in almost all regions of Romania, less in the southeast where the sleet will prevail.

Falls will get a short break on Tuesday, but during the evening they will be present in the west, centre and north. It will be snowing in the western half of the country on Wednesday, with snowfall to gradually expand in the rest of the areas.
