A tourist from Germany died in Piatra Craiului Mountains in Romania after he had a heart attack and fell 10 metres down in a precipice. He had to be taken out by helicopter, as the forensic crew could not reach him.
The head of the mountain rescuers from Zarnesti said the tourist hadn’t died due to the injuries but because he had a heart attack.
“In Piatra Craiului Mica area a tourist fell down about five metres down. We were announced he is injured but conscious (…) We headed to Curmatura chalet. Meanwhile we were informed the tourist didn’t breathe anymore, that he had no pulse. A tourist from Sweden who was a medical attendant happened to pass by, the man was resuscitated. The fall was not careless, he had a heart attack, then he fell down and tumbled 10m down. In my opinion, the falls didn’t jeopardize his life,” the head of the mountain rescuers said.
The 67-year-old tourist was from Germany and was in Romania together with several friends.
