Gov’t wants to buy laptops with preinstalled Microsoft-Windows 10 system
The General Secretariat of the Government launched a bid to buy 90 PCs and 30 laptops with preinstalle Microsoft-Windows 10 Pro operating system, as well as server, firewall equipment and over 500 licenses. The contract has an estimated value of RON 1.7m (over EUR 380,000) and is financed with public funds, according to a notice published in the e-procurement System.
The bid launch comes after the Romanian state asked in court in December last year to stop the payment of RON 100m on Microsoft licenses to some providers, claiming contract irregularities.
Sorin Grindeanu, minister for the Information Society told Hotnews on January 2015 that the ministry has asked for this adjournment in court, the sum representing the tranches paid in 2014 and 2015 in compliance with an addendum concluded in 2013 for a framework agreement in 2009, during the ruling of Boc 1 Government, consisting in the former Democrat Liberal Party and the alliance between Social Democrat Party and the Conservative Party.
The file is pending at the Bucharest Court, with the next hearing set on October 5.
