Health Minister Patriciu Achimaş Cadariu has demanded Wednesday evening the resignation of the Paediatric Hospital in Pitesti following the fact that a one year and four months old child was taken from one hospital to another with serious digestive infection, although the doctors in Pitesti were aware of his situation since February 13.
The health ministry says a procedure has been infringed by the hospital management, i.e. it didn’t report to Bucharest a new case of a sick child, as the minister had requested. The child came to the hospital during the evening and the next morning he was sent to Bucharest. The doctors of Pitesti hospital say the reports are not done during night-time, the next morning the Arges Public Health Directorate was informed.
In his turn, Arges County Prefect Cristian Soare has asked Thursday morning for the resignation of the hospital’s management, along with the management of the Arges Public Health Directorate.
The manager of the Paediatric Hospital in Pitesti, Vasile Stan, said on Thursday that he does not intend to resign from office.
“I am not going to resign, I consider myself innocent. Let the minister dismiss me, if he believes this would solve the situation. They have one more step to call me a criminal. I’m sick of this kind of lynching. None of the children who have died had been in our hospital. What hurts me most, because I am a paediatrician, is that there are some children who have died. All children were treated properly,” said Vasile Stan, the manager of the Paediatric Hospital in Pitesti.
The hospital employees stand beside the management and threaten with protests in the street in the event of dismissal. They say the hospital management is not to blame for the current situation, digi24.ro informs.
