140 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the past 24 hours. Authorities have reported 228 deaths today, with 214 being from the previous months. 272 patients infected with the novel coronavirus are admitted in intensive care.
Overall, there have been 1,079,294 people infected with Covid in Romania since the debut of the pandemic until today, June 9, with 1,043,482 patients being declared cured.
The death toll surged to 31,383, with 228 new more deaths reported during June 8, 10:00hrs and June 9, 10:00hrs: 122 men and 106 women from Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bihor, Bacău, Brașov, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Gorj, Harghita, Iași, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Teleorman, Ilfov and Bucharest.
214 of the recently reported deaths are previous to the above-mentioned time frame. One death occurred in June 2020, one in July 2020, two in August 2020, four in September 2020, 10 in October 2020, 56 in November 2020, 40 in December 2020, 30 in January 2021, 21 in February 2021, 33 in March 2021 and 16 in April 2021 in such counties as Alba, Argeș, Arad, Cluj, Gorj, Ilfov, Iași, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Teleorman and Bucharest.
Out of those 228 deaths, two were reported in the 30-39 age group, five in the 40-49 age group, 28 in the 50-59 age group, 66 in the 60-69 age category, 70 deaths among patients aged 70 to 79 and 57 deaths among patients over 80.
216 of the recently reported victims had underlying conditions, three patients presented no comorbidity, and no other diseases had been reported so far in the case of nine other dead patients.
1,436 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania are currently hospitalized, with 272 in intensive care.
The infection rate continues to drop countrywide, with the incidence of Covid-19 infections per one thousand inhabitants being 0.16. The highest infection rate is in Prahova – 0.27, and the lowest in Gorj – 0.03.
The infection rate stands at 0.17 in Bucharest.
