225 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the past 24 hours. 20 Romanians infected with the novel coronavirus have died in the past day, while other 93 previous deaths due to Covid-19 have been reported now.

Overall, there have been 1.078,563 people infected with SARS-CoV in Romania since the debut of the pandemic till June 4, with 1,041,924 patients declared cured.

The death toll climbed to 30,612, with 113 deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 71 men and 42 women from Argeș, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brașov, Buzău, Gorj, Hunedoara, Harghita, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Sălaj, Timiș, Tulcea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

93 of the recently reported deaths occurred previously the time frame of June 3-June 4: 8 deaths occurred in October 2020, 24 in November 2020, 11 in December 2020, 22 in January 2021, 3 in February 2021, 5 in March 2021, 9 in April 2021, 11 in May 2021, in Bihor, Brașov, Gorj, Ilfov, Iași, Maramureș, Mureș, Neamț, Timiș, Tulcea and Bucharest.

Among the recently reported deaths, 3 were in the 30-39 age group, 7 in 40-49 age group, 10 among patients aged 50 to 59, 28 deaths in the 60-69 age category, 34 deaths among people aged 70 to 79 and 31 deaths among elderly over 80.

106 of the latest victims had pre-existing conditions, 3 dead patients presented no comorbidity, and no diseases have been reported so far int he case of 4 other victims.

1,829 Romanian infected with SARS-CoV-2 are currently hospitalized, with 341 in intensive care.

Infection rates

Alba county remains first on coronavirus infection rate – 0.41 per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Sibiu – 0.37, Prahova – 0.37 and Caras-Severin – 0.37. The lowest infection rates are in Gorj- 0.07, Satu Mare – 0.09, Suceava and Bacau – 0.1.
