60 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were reported in the past 24 hours following 26,466 tests nationwide, according to the Strategic Communication Group (GCS). The infection rate stands at 0.22%. 77 new deaths due to Covid-19 have been reported in the past day, with 75 being from previous months. 56 patients are in intensive care.
As of Wednesday, 1,081,090 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania, with 1,045,351 being declared cured.
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 18 people were reconfirmed positive.
The death toll climbed to 34,098, with 77 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 40 men and 37 women from Argeş, Arad, Cluj, Iaşi, Maramureş, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova and Bucharest.
75 of these newly reported deaths occurred in the previous months: two in May 2020, one in July 2020, one in August, three in September 2020, five in October 2020, 18 in November 2020, 13 in January 2021, five in February 2021, seven in March and two in April this year in Argeş, Arad, Cluj, Iaşi, Mureș, Neamț and Bucharest.
One of the recently reported deaths was in the 10-19 age group, one in the 30-39 age group, two in the 40-49 age group, eight in the 50-59 age group, 19 among patients aged 60 to 69, 29 among those aged 70 to 79 and 17 in patients over 80.
74 of the recently reported victims had pre-existing conditions, while no disease have been reported so far in the case of three other victims.
376 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are hospitalized, with 56 in intensive care.
