70 new Covid-19 infections, 6 deaths reported in Romania in the past 24hrs

70 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the past 24 hours, out of 32,203 conducted tests. The infection rate countrywide drops to 0.21%.

Authorities reported 97 new deaths due to the coronavirus infections, but 91 occurred in the previous months. There are 181 patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in intensive care.

Overall, there have been 1,080,140 people infected with coronavirus in Romania since the debut of the pandemic till June 18, 2021, with 1,044,919 patients declared cured.

The death toll surged to 32,212, with 97 deaths reported during June 17-June18, 2021: 62 men and 35 women from Argeș, Bistrița-Năsăud, Buzău, Dolj, Galați, Hunedoara, Iași, Sălaj, Sibiu, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

91 of the recently reported deaths occurred in the previous months: five in October 2020, 12 in November 2020, 19 in December 2020, 20 in January 2021, eight in February 2021, 14 deaths in March 2021, 13 in April in Argeș, Bistrița-Năsăud, Dolj, Galați, Hunedoara, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Among those recently 97 reported victims, one was in the 30-39 age group, two in the 40-49 age group, eight in the 50-59 age category, 19 deaths in people age d60 to 69, 30 among patients aged 70 to 79 and 37 deaths among those over 80.

88 of the recently reported victims had pre-existing conditions, while nine had no other comorbidity.

887 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are currently hospitalized, with 181 in intensive care.
