9,187new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the past 24 hours, as well as 301 deaths due to the SARS-COV-2 virus. The overall infection rate is 29.3%, which means that almost a third of the Covid tests conducted in the past day came back positive.
“According to the existing data on October 25, 2021, at 10.00, 9,187 cases of positive people with SARS-VOC-2 were registered in the last 24 hours. Also, 301 deaths were reported, 2 of which occurring in the previous weeks,” according to a press release by the Strategic Communication Group.
Overall, there have been 1,571,115 people who got the SARS-CoV-2 infection in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic till today, October 25, 2021, with 7,275 being reinfected patients more than 180 days since the first infection.
1,331,225 patients were declared cured.
Among the newly 9,187 confirmed infections, 152 are of reinfected patients more than 6 months since the first infection.
The death toll climbed to 44,980, with 301 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 151 men and 150 women from Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Bihor, Botoșani, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Vaslui and Bucharest. Two of the recently reported deaths occurred in the previous weeks.
Among those 301 deaths, three were reported in the 30-39 age group, 18 in the 40-49 age group, 20 in the 50-59 age group, 90 in people aged 60 to 69, 94 deaths among patients in their 70s and 76 among elderly over 80.
283 of the recent victims had underlying medical conditions, four had no other comorbidities and no other pre-existing conditions have been reported so far in the case of 14 other victims.
Two deaths reported today occurred in other days of October, in Bacau and Ialomita counties,
Out of the total dead patients in the last 24 hrs, 272 were not vaccinated and 29 were vaccinated. Those 29 vaccinated dead patients were aged 50 to over 80. 28 of the vaccinated victims had other diseases and one had no comorbidity.
20,962 Romanians infected with the novel coronavirus are currently hospitalized, with 1,855 in intensive care. Among the total hospitalized Covid patients, 515 are children: 474 admitted in the Covid wards and 41 in intensive care.
At the same time, the incidence of the Covid cases is on decline in Bucharest for the third day in a row, down to 16.24 per one thousand inhabitants.
On Sunday, the incidence was 16.38, on Saturday it was 16.53, and on Friday it was 16.54 per thousand inhabitants.
Recently, the National Committee for Emergency Situations rejected one of the Public Health Institute’s proposals to enforce lockdown in Bucharest and Ilfov County. Previously, the proposal had also been rejected by the technical-scientific group subordinated to CNSU.
However, the Committee decided to intensify controls on compliance with measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
