The modular intensive care hospital built by Daruieste Viata NGO from the donation of over 250,000 Romanians will work at full capacity starting today. 22 COVID patients have been hospitalized here since the weekend, but the intensive care unit is also opened today, as the NGO founders, Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu have announced.
The hospital is currently the most performing Covid modular hospital in Romania. It can host up to 38 Covid patients in critical condition, who need intensive care treatment.

“22 patients are currently admitted in the modular hospital, while the intensive care unit is starting in full force as of today. An NGO has brought great part of the necessary medical equipment and the Romanian Intensive Care Society (thanks to professor Dorel Sandesc) has sent 6 ventilators for invasive mechanical ventilation”, said Oana Gheorghiu, vicepresident Dăruiește Viață.

Although it had been built in a record time and had been fully equipped to treat Covid patients, the modul hospital was still partially used by authorities last week. The hospital was completed in June, but authorities have been stammering for weeks to find the necessary medical staff and to bring respirators.

Over 250,000 Romanians donated money and tens of companies sponsored the Daruiesti Viata NGO for this modular hospital in the courtyard of Elias Hospital in Bucharest. The Covid hospital has 38 intensive care beds.

The construction costed around EUR 2.2 million, with 70 constructors working on the building site day by day during April-June.

Dăruiește Viață also bought the necessary equipment for the hospital to be operational, setting up oxygen tanks for the medical gases needed in intensive care, installing air filtration systems, water chlorination station, devices to sterilize the medical instrumentation, laboratories, mobile medical ramps, beds, bed stands, nurse call system, fire detectors, I.V. set tubing, etc.
