202 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the past 24 hours, out of 30,826 conducted tests, which means an infection rate of 0.65%. The authorities have reported 277 new deaths, with 256 dating back from the previous months. 295 infected patients are hospitalized in intensive care.
Overall, there have been 1,079,154 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic till June 8, 2021, with 1,043,371 patients declared cured.
The death toll surged to 31,155, with 277 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 146 men and 131 women from Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bihor, Brăila, Buzău, Cluj, Galați, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Tulcea, Vâlcea, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.
256 of the recently reported deaths occurred previously to the June 7-June 8 time frame. Thus, two deaths occurred in June 2020, three deaths in August 2020, one death in September 2020, 24 deaths in October 2020, 68 deaths in November 2020, 38 deaths in December 2020, 33 in January 2021, 28 in February 2021, 39 in March 2021, 20 in April 2021 in Arad, Argeș , Bihor, Cluj, Gorj, Hunedoara, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Vâlcea, Vrancea, Ilfov counties and Bucharest.
277 of these deaths, three were reported in the 30-39 age group, three in the 40-49 age group, 25 in the 50-59 age group, 65 in the 60-69 age group, 80 deaths among patients aged 70 to 79 and 101 deaths among those aged over 80.
260 of the recently reported victims had pre-existing conditions, three presented no comorbidity and no other disease have been reported so far in the case of 14 other dead patients.
1,526 Romanians infected with the novel coronavirus are currently hospitalized, with 295 in intensive care.
