The infection rate in Bucharest continues to rise and is approaching 5 per thousand inhabitants, according to data released on Monday by the authorities. If the incidence of COVID-19 cases exceeds 6 per thousand, then the schools enter the online system. A night quarantine is also set up on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The infection rate in the Capital surged to 4.95, according to Digi24, as against 4.35 a day ago.

The incidence of COVID-19 cases has exceeded the threshold of 4 per 1,000 on Saturday.

Bucharest entered the red scenario from midnight on Friday to Saturday, which means that the COVID green certificate is mandatory for access to bars, performance halls, private events, gyms or restaurants in malls. According to a new government decision adopted on Thursday, the COVID green certificate will be mandatory for children aged 12 and over, as it has been until now.

There is also a night quarantine on weekends. People are forbidden to go out on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, between 20.00-05.00, except for some grounded reasons. Quarantine does not apply to people who are vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and for whom 10 days have elapsed since the completion of the complete vaccination schedule.

At the same time, in the localities with an infection rate between 6 and 7.5 per thousand, the shops close, on weekends, from 18.00.

On Sunday, 653 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the Capital, and in the hospitals in Bucharest there were no more beds available at ATI for patients with intensive care.
