Sorin Luca, the head of the control body of the Ministry of Health, who in April did the checks at the Pantelimon Hospital and concluded that there were no problems, has resigned, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, announced on Wednesday, who so far has not made the order public through who sent the control to the hospital.
The announcement was made by Minister Rafila before the government meeting.
PM sends its own control body to Pantelimon Hospital
On the other hand, Romanian PM Marcel Ciolacu sent his own Control Body to the Ministry of Health to examine the documents issued by the institution regarding the situation at “Saint Pantelimon” Hospital. The Prime Minister also stated that he expects information, in the next few days, from the head of his Control Body regarding the ongoing investigation related to what happened at the medical unit.
Judge: Doctors at Sf. Pantelimon decided who should die in ICU
In motivating the arrest of the two doctors from the Saint Pantelimon Hospital, the judge accuses them of inhumanely assigning to themselves the right to decide who lives and who dies in the Intensive Care Unit. And the evidence gathered so far by the prosecutors is enough to outline the suspicion that the two had the direct intention to take the life of a patient. The defendants challenged the preventive arrest measure, and the trial will take place on August 20 at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
In motivating the arrest of the two female doctors from the Pantelimon hospital, the magistrate shows that the defendants “acted with the direct intention of suppressing the life” of the 54-year-old patient. “The judge of rights and liberties could not retain the defenses of the defendants, appreciating that, at this moment, there is reasonable suspicion that the defendants acted with the direct intention of suppressing the life of the victim Militaru Marian. Without speculating on the reason for such decisions, the judge notes that the defendant M.M. he believed that noradrenaline was prolonging the suffering of his patients, depriving the divinity of his absolute right to decide on life and death,” the motivation states.
