Over 12,000 new Covid infections, 75 related deaths, 11 previous ones

In the last 24 hours, more than 12,000 cases of COVID-19 and 75 deaths have been reported in Romania, of which 11 in the past, according to partial data transmitted on Monday by the authorities.

“According to existing data on February 14, at 10:00hrs, 12,069 coronavirus infections have been reported in the past 24 hours, as well as 75 deaths, of which 11 occurred in the previous weeks,” reads a press release by the Strategic Communication Group. 1,155 patients infected with coronavirus are in a more serious condition in intensive care, with 974 of them being unvaccinated.

The positive trend rate climbed to 30.42%.

In the last 24 hours, 12,069 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, 102 more than the previous day. 1,530 of the new 24-hour cases were from re-infected patients, who tested positive for more than 180 days after the first infection.

Overall, a total of 2,574,384 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic till February 14th, of which 90,532 are from re-infected patients, tested positive at a period of more than 180 days after the first infection. 2,135,049 patients were declared cured.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 661 people were reconfirmed positively.

The death toll surged to 61,676, with 75 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 43 men and 32 women from Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Buzău, Călărași, Cluj, Dolj, Giurgiu, Gorj, Ialomiţa, Maramureş, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Timiș, Vaslui and Bucharest.

11 deaths occurred in the previous month, January 2022, in Ialomita county and Bucharest.

Out of the 75 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category 20-29 years, 1 in the age category 30-39 years, 4 in the age category 40-49 years, 6 in the age category 50- 59 years old, 21 in the age category 60-69 years old, 12 in the age category 70-79 years old and 30 in the age category over 80 years old. 74 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented with comorbidities, and 1 deceased patient did not present with comorbidities. Out of a total of 75 patients who died, 64 were unvaccinated and 11 were vaccinated. Vaccinated patients ranged in age from 40-49 to over 80 years. All vaccinated patients who died had comorbidities.

10,938 Romanians infected with SARS-COV-2 are currently hospitalized, by 352 more than the previous day. 1,155 Covid patients are in intensive care, 14 more than the previous day. 974 of the Covid patients in ICU were not vaccinated.

Among the Covid patients admitted in hospitals, 798 are children, by 73 more than the previous day, with 21 of them in intensive care, also more by three than Sunday.

Infection rate down in Bucharest

At the same time the COVID-19 infection rate is on a slight decline, t0 38.07 per one thousand inhabitants. It is the first day of decrease this year. An incidence rate of 38.10 was reported on Sunday.
