Romania ranks second in Europe on COVID-19 fatality rate

According to the latest report by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control on Tuesday, October 20, Romania reported a fatality rate of 4.5 per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days, being second after Czechia, where the rate of 7.1.

Spain ranks third, with a fatality rate of 3.8 per 100,000 in the past 14 days, followed by Hungary and Belgium.

On the other side, European states like Finland and Estonia, the fatality rate is low, only 0.1/100,000 inhabitants.

As of 20 October 2020, 5 039 783 cases have been reported in the EU/EEA and the UK: Spain (974 449), France (910 277), United Kingdom (741 212), Italy (423 578), Germany (373 167), Netherlands (235 954), Belgium (230 387), Poland (183 248), Romania (182 854), Czechia (181 962), Sweden (103 200), Portugal (101 860), Austria (66 611), Ireland (50 993), Hungary (48 757), Denmark (35 844), Slovakia (30 695), Bulgaria (30 527), Croatia (25 973), Greece (25 802), Norway (16 456), Slovenia (14 477), Finland (13 555), Luxembourg (10 888), Lithuania (7 726), Malta (4 737), Iceland (4 101), Estonia (4 085), Latvia (3 494), Cyprus (2 687) and Liechtenstein (227).

As of 20 October 2020, 202 062 deaths have been reported in the EU/EEA and the UK: United Kingdom (43 726), Italy (36 616), Spain (33 992), France (33 623), Belgium (10 443), Germany (9 836), Netherlands (6 759), Romania (5 931), Sweden (5 918), Poland (3 614), Portugal (2 198), Ireland (1 852), Czechia (1 513), Hungary (1 211), Bulgaria (1 008), Austria (919), Denmark (686), Greece (520), Croatia (374), Finland (351), Norway (278), Slovenia (164), Luxembourg (133), Lithuania (113), Slovakia (92), Estonia (68), Malta (45), Latvia (42), Cyprus (25), Iceland (11) and Liechtenstein (1).
