Romania to get 5,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine

Romania will receive 5,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine. Two new cases, with 32 infection overall have been reported in our country in the last week, Adriana Pistol, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, announced in a press conference on Tuesday.

According to the Secretary of State Adriana Pistol, those infected with this virus are men between the ages of 31 and 44.

The doses of monkeypox vaccine that will arrive in Romania are a donation from the European Commission. Yet, authorities do not know at this moment when the vaccine doses will be delivered, with priority given to countries with a large number of cases.

“It is not a very large amount. We will offer the vaccine to the contacts of the cases. As far as I know, 5,000 doses of vaccine will be received”, says the state secretary in the Ministry of Health.
