Wiener Privatklinik Hosts Free Cancer Seminar in Bucharest
Wiener Privatklinik, one of Austria’s largest private hospitals and a “World’s Best Hospitals” certified institution for five consecutive years, is organizing a free oncology event for Romanian patients on May 13, in Bucharest (10:00 AM, Marmorosch Hotel).
The event, titled “Next-Generation Cancer Treatments”, will feature six internationally renowned experts from Vienna who will present the latest innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of high-incidence cancers, such as breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancer.
Cancer in Romania: High Mortality Despite Low Incidence
Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the European Union, causing approximately 1.3 million deaths annually. In Romania, over 95,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year, and nearly 54,000 people die from the disease. Although cancer incidence in Romania is below the EU average, the mortality rate is 7% higher than the EU average.
Lung cancer continues to be the leading cause of cancer-related death, with mortality increasing by nearly 11% since 2000. Mortality has also risen for six other cancer types: colorectal, breast, prostate, liver, bladder, and pancreatic cancers.
Early diagnosis is crucial. Late detection significantly lowers recovery chances and leads to more complex treatments. However, ongoing medical innovations offer new hope for recovery through more effective and personalized cancer therapies.
Modern Cancer Solutions, Explained by Leading Experts
Internationally recognized specialists from Wiener Privatklinik invite patients to an open discussion on the latest advancements in cancer diagnosis and treatment. During the oncology event, the experts will address topics such as:
-
Methods for diagnosing malignant tumors
-
Surgical approaches to breast cancer
-
Advances in lung cancer surgery
-
Treatment of colon cancer
-
Modern therapies for prostate cancer
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the experts during an interactive Q&A session and may optionally benefit from an individual consultation.
“The event we organize annually offers a valuable opportunity for both oncology patients and the general public to access current, relevant information directly from internationally renowned experts. Patients treated at Wiener Privatklinik benefit from an integrated approach, based on the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team, top-quality medical care, and personalized treatment plans tailored to each case,” said Thomas Peter Ebm, Managing Director of Wiener Privatklinik.
