The Romanian Meteorology Administration has issued a heat alert for southern and southeastern country, then for western Romania, valid until Wednesday evening. The weather alert comes into force on Tuesday at 12:00hrs and expires on Wednesday at 18:00hrs.

On the other hand, 15 counties are falling under a warning for heavy rainfalls and storms today until 20:00hrs.

So, the weather will be hot, with the heatwave particularly hitting the southern and southeastern regions, with maximum temperatures reaching 33C-36C on Tuesday and 32C-34C on Wednesday.

The thermal discomfort will be high in the afternoon, while the temperature-moisture index will reach the critical threshold of 80 units.

At the same time, a code yellow alert for torrential rains will come into force today at 12:00hrs until 20:00hrs, in the Eastern Carpathians, most part of Dobruja, southern Moldavia and eastern Muntenia. There will be also storms, thunderstorms, strong wind and hail.

The targeted counties are: Suceava, Neamț, Harghita, Brașov, Covasna, Prahova, Bacău, Vrancea, Galați, Buzău, Brăila, Tulcea, Ialomița, Constanța and Călărași.

Falls will exceed 20-25 liters/sqm and could reach 30-35l/sqm.

Scorching in Bucharest, too

There will be heat in Bucharest as well around noon, and there might be showers in the afternoon.

The maximum temperature will be around 35C, and the minimum one will range from 18C to 20C. The thermal discomfort will be high in the afternoon, while the temperature-moisture index will reach the critical threshold of 80 units.
