Few days ahead of October, the weather is hotter for this time of the year. It will be hot this weekend, with highs of 36 degrees Celsius in the hottest September in 60 years.

“In the coming days we expect the temperatures to rise. Probably, the hottest will be on Saturday, when in the southern part of the country the maximum temperatures will exceed 34-35 degrees Celsius, in quite extensive areas. These values are almost 10 degrees higher than would be natural during this period. Normal at the end of September would be maximum temperatures between 20 and 26 degrees. We expect highs on Friday, especially on Saturday, but also on Sunday, which will start from 28-30 degrees in most regions and reach 34-35 degrees Celsius, perhaps isolated even more in the southern part of the territory “, Florinela Georgescu, executive director of ANM told Digi24.

The ANM director also declared that this September is the second warmest September in the last 60 years. He also added that there will be above normal temperatures next week as well.

Asked if there will also be storms, she explained that we will have little precipitation in the next period, at least until Monday, but that “next week will not bring much rain either, maybe only in the mountainous areas and in the western part, but on restricted areas”. “It is very possible to have vacation periods in October as well. Longer-term forecasts show we are likely to stick with above-normal temperatures for most of October. It could be a month with less rain than the previous period”, said Florinela Georgescu.

She also suggested people not to miss this weekend and go to the coast, because there will be high temperatures there too and the sea water will be warm for this period. “It’s probably the last, maybe the penultimate weekend with beach weather,” concluded the executive director of ANM.
