Heavy snowfall was registered Wednesday morning on Transfagarasan road, with strong wind gusts, the road workers were trying to remove the snow to keep the road open for traffic.
Meteorologists say it will continue to snow on Wednesday and Thursday and temperatures will drop, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, to about -13 degrees Celsius, ziare.com reports.
In Sibiu the temperatures will fall to about zero degrees C.
Snowfalls were registered also in Harghita County, the snow layer has reached 2 cm. About 160 households in Capu Corbului and Atia were out of electric power due to the strong wind.
Snow has also fallen at Omu Peak with strong wind gusts.
According to the National Meteorology Administration, it will rain on large areas in Banat, Crisana, Maramures and Transylvania.
The Code Orange warning for strong winds has come into force on Wednesday at noon in the counties of Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman and Giurgiu, with winds expected to reach up to 80-90 km/h.
