A 50-year old woman tourist from Hungary died on Saturday, in the Piatra Secuiului Massif, at Rimetea, Alba Public Mountain Rescuers have announced. Most of the Piatra Secuiului Massif, with an altitude of 1,128 metres, is accessible only to professional climbers, but it also has a marked route.
Alba Mountain Rescuers intervened, along with a SMURD team, but the woman could not be saved, ziare.com informs.
“The person had no reaction to the resuscitation maneuvers,” Lucian Forda, head of the Alba Mountain Rescurs said. He added that the woman did not fell from the rocky massif, but she felt sick.
Rimetea is a commune with mostly ethnic Hungarian population, with thousands of people from Hungary visiting the region every year.
