‘IRONHORSE’ deploys to Romania, Bulgaria for Atlantic Resolve rotation

Soldiers, equipment and vehicles from the from 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “IRONHORSE,” 1st Cavalry Division have begun to arrive in Romania and Bulgaria in support of Atlantic Resolve for a nine-month rotation.

2-5 CAV brings more than 500 tracked and wheeled vehicles and other equipment that is currently arriving at Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, Romania, and at Novo Selo, Bulgaria, among which there are heavy vehicles, such as Abrams tanks and Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, moving down their roads and highways.

The IRONHORSE brigade’s rotation will begin in Romania, where they will consolidate all of their equipment and personnel, then move some forces to Bulgaria as well.

This movement of IRONHORSE forces is part of a continuous presence and proof of our commitment to our Allies and Partner Nations in the deterrence of aggression across Eastern Europe. While deployed to these locations the IRONHORSE brigade will continue to make strides toward interoperability by continuously training with our Allies and Partner Nations”, reads a press release by Maj.
