Alexander Adamescu, the son of businessman Dan Adamescu, was arrested Monday evening in London. He is accused of giving and taking bribes, informs.

Alexander Adamescu was identified and caught by the London police on Monday night and is in custody. The measure was taken after the Romanian judges issued an arrest warrant on his behalf in absentia. The extradition proceedings would not last long, the sources say, given that the UK operates under common laws of EU member states, providing rapid procedures.

Alexander Adamescu was searched after under an arrest warrant in absentia. DNA prosecutors accuse the son of businessman Adamescu of evading investigation for years in the investigation in which he is charged with bribe taking.

DNA prosecutors claim that in spite of having tried with the support of the UK and with the support of the police in Monaco to get businessman Alexander Adamescu for hearings in the file started in his name since 2014, they have failed because he has evaded investigation.

The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) requested in March the arrest in absentia of Bogdan Alexander Adamescu, son of tycoon Dan Adamescu. He is accused by DNA of paying bribes of tens of thousands of euros, through intermediaries, to judges of the Bucharest Court. The money was used to obtain a favourable decision in an insolvency file.

The DNA prosecutors – Department for combating crimes related to corruption offenses, have ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against the defendant Adamescu Bogdan Alexander, businessman, for committing two deeds of bribe giving.

The prosecutors’ ordinance shows that, in this case, there is data and evidence that outline the following facts: In June and December 2013, the defendant Adamescu Bogdan Alexander, together with his father, sent through intermediaries, the amounts to EUR 15,000 and respectively RON 23,000 to the magistrates Stanciu Ion and Rovenţa Elena, judges with the Bucharest Court – Section VII Civil so that, in return, the judges to give favourable solutions in the files regarding insolvency proceedings of some of the companies having Dan Grigore Adamescu as shareholder.

On March 25, 2016, the prosecutors filed to the Bucharest Court the application for arrest in absentia of the defendant Bogdan Alexander Adamescu for a period of 30 days from the date of the execution of the preventive arrest warrant.
