B?sescu on DIICOT chief arrest: Nobody is above the law, not even me

Asked to comment on DIICOT chief’s arrest, President Traian B?sescut said on Friday: “Nobody is above the law. Not even me.”

The head of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), Alina Bica was detained on Thursday night by the anti-corruption prosecutors. She is charged with abuse of office in a file related to an illegal retrocession. On Friday the Superior Council of Magistracy gave the okay for Bica’ s 30-day preventive arrest. Thus CSM was changing Thursday’s decision when had approved that Bica should have been detained for 24 days under house arrest.

Other three persons are detained in this file, and a businessman and UDMR MP Marko Attila are prosecuted.
