Businessman Liviu Luca, on hunger strike in prison, claims he would have been held naked

Businessman Liviu Luca, serving a prison sentence at the Ploiesti Penitentiary, is on hunger strike. He complained of the improper detention conditions, while claiming that he and other inmates had been held naked on the access hall of the penitentiary during searches in the cell.

Luca’s lawyer, Marius Arizan, has stated on Monday that the businessman is currently admitted to the hospital’s ward and is being monitored for he has refused to eat.

Luca complained of the detention conditions last week, after two more beds had been brought in his cell, which led to a decreased area and implicitly had impacted on the air volume.

Moreover, Luca says that searches have been conducted in his cell on Friday, during which he and his cellmates were kept naked on the access hall of the penitentiary.

Liviu Luca was sentenced to six years in prison in July 2016 in the file of the Petromservice bankruptcy.
