The judges department of the Superior Council of Magistracy unanimously voted Iulia Tarcea as the new head of the Supreme Court (High Court of Cassation and Justice). The documents referring to the CSM vote will be sent to President Klaus Iohannis who is the one to decide if he appoints her for this position.
Iulia Tarcea was the only candidate racing for the president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ). Tarcea, now the deputy head of ICCJ was heard by the judges with the Superior Council of Magistracy. The Justice minister Raluca Pruna congratulated Tarcea for her new mission. “I think she will make a good job (…) and I think she will preserve the Supreme Court at the professionalism level that the institution is enjoying today,” said minister Pruna.
Iulia Tarcea is also the interim head of the Supreme Court.
“I have a lot of plans and only good intentions. I have a management plan, it’s obvious one of the solutions for filing the candidature”, Tarcea told the journalists before the interview.
The head position of the Supreme Court has been vacant after Livia Stanciu, the former ICCJ head, asked to be relieved from this position due to retirement. Later on, she has taken over the constitutional judge position.
“As deputy head of the ICCJ, I teamed up with the former president, had an excellent relation with the other vice-president. I had a good relation with the court presidents, “ Tarcea told the CSM judges.
