Dutch Company Raided in Probe on Stolen Dacian Treasure

Dutch police raided the headquarters of a company in Heerhugowaard on Wednesday morning in search of Romanian Dacian artifacts stolen from the Drents Museum. The Coţofeneşti helmet and the gold bracelets have not been found so far, writes RTV Drenthe.

The police have seized so-called digital data carriers, which are still being investigated. This is not the first time that police near Heerhugowaard have searched buildings in connection with the robbery of the Drents Museum.

At the end of last month, a home and a business premises in the same city were searched. Some of the suspects who are currently in custody come from Heerhugowaard.

However, no new suspects were arrested during Wednesday’s investigation at the company’s premises. The main aim of the investigation is to find clues that can ensure the return of the stolen Helmet and gold bracelets.

Five suspects have previously been arrested. These are three men aged 26, 34 and 36 and a woman aged 40, all from Heerhugowaard. The woman was released a month ago, but remains a suspect in this case. A 36-year-old man from Alkmaar was subsequently arrested.

The police are also still searching for the man who was at Praxis in Assen a day and a half before the Dacian treasure theft. In the case of the detained suspects, a first public hearing will take place on May 9.

The court will decide on the extension of the preventive detention, and the Prosecutor’s Office will provide updated information on the investigation, the Dutch press reports.
