A European police manhunt has been launched for a 27-year-old man who has allegedly abducted 15-year-old British schoolgirl – and ‘fled to Spain’ with her. Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to trace missing Elena Ciochina, mirror.co.uk reports.

She was last seen on Saturday at about 7pm when she left her home in Newham, east London.

Police believe that she is with 27-year-old Ionut Gheorghe who was also last seen on Saturday. Mr Gheorghe was caught on CCTV in Enfield withdrawing £250 from a cashpoint at about 2.20pm.

It is thought that they left the country that same evening. Detectives believe they are currently in the Guadalajara area of Spain, near to Madrid. A European Arrest Warrant is now in place for Gheorghe for abduction.

The girl is described as 1.75m tall, with waist-length black hair. She was wearing a black T-Shirt, black jogging bottoms and black plimsolls. It is believed she is in possession of a Romanian identity card.

Gheorghe is described as white, about 1.70m tall, of heavy build with short light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-Shirt, dark shorts and dark coloured flip-flops.
