Former Agriculture Minister Stelian Fuia, sentenced to 3 years imprisonment

The former minister of agriculture Stelian Fuia was sentenced on Wednesday by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) to three years imprisonment in a file handled by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for abuse of office during his office as Director with the Research and Development Station for Medicinal Herbs Fundulea. The ruling is final, hotnews.ro reports.

Stelian Fuia became a deputy for Democrat-Liberal Party (PD-L) in 2007. In November 2008 he won the second mandate as MP. In February 2012 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. On April 23, 2014 it was announced that the former minister of agriculture is prosecuted for abuse of office.
