FRF President, Răzvan Burleanu, targeted by DNA file

The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors have launched investigations into the criminal complaints filed by several Romanian Football Federation (FRF) affiliated members regarding the deeds committed by the current president, Răzvan Burleanu, during 2014-2018.

The prosecutors have got involved following a series of complaints filed by Tudor Iacov, president of ‘Progresul Bucharest’ football team, as well as other presidents of County Football Associations, ProSport informs.

Among the allegations made in these complaints are misappropriation of funds, deception and usurpation of official qualities.

Burleanu is accused of leading the FRF, although the Forum’s Executive Committee was not validated by the courts and is the same as in 2011, having as members former FRF chief Mircea Sandu and former LPF head Dumitru Dragomir.

Razvan Burleanu was denounced to the DNA for the following deeds:

1. Illegal spending from the FRF budget during 2014-2018, ranging between EUR 14-25 million.
2. the funding of Centres of Excellence and their disbanding after spending EUR 2 million.
3. the appointment of Christoph Daum as a national team coach, who cashed about EUR 1.1 million.
4. The decision to award bonuses to the members of the Executive Committee worth over EUR 650,000 for the qualification of Romania’s team to EURO 2016. Burleanu received a bonus of EUR 80,000.
