Prince Paul was placed under house arrest in the file of illegal restitution of land in Ilfov County, a file regarding damages of more than EUR 135 million, being accused of buying influence, money laundering and complicity to abuse of office, the Braşov Court of Appeal ruled on Saturday. The sentence could be challenged to the Supreme Court.

Out of the court, Prince Paul said he is excited and will not appeal against the sentence, his lawyer stating: “for 30 days we’re not going to file an appeal.”

“Don’t forget I was the one to file a criminal complaint and I want everything checked, as I want to be fair,” Prince Paul said.

“Of course I’m a bit more relaxed now. It’s normal, all these things happened because I filed a criminal complaint. It will be seen that I am not guilty at all. (…) I’ve taken nothing from them, I haven’t received anything from them, no land, not a hectare, nothing,” Prince Paul claimed.

Prince Paul (Paul Lambrino) was arrested Friday evening by the DNA Brasov prosecutors, following nearly seven hours of hearings in the file of illegal restitution land in Ilfov County.
