Investigators are conducting raids on Wednesday at the offices of two companies and the homes of their managers, in the case concerning the illegal funding of Călin Georgescu’s election campaign.

Judicial sources say the vehicles used by Călin Georgescu are rented from the targeted companies. Georgescu is under criminal investigation for six offenses, being accused of plotting a plan to destabilize Romania with the help of mercenaries led by Horațiu Potra, after the Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of the presidential elections.

The case is being handled by the General Prosecutor’s Office, which announced that four raids are taking place in Argeș and Vâlcea counties, at the residences of two individuals and the headquarters and business locations of two companies. “The activities are part of a criminal investigation concerning the offenses of voter bribery, money laundering, computer fraud, and promoting the cult of individuals guilty of committing crimes against peace and humanity, or promoting fascist, racist, or xenophobic ideologies through propaganda, carried out by any means, in public. The investigations are being conducted in a case involving the illegal financing of an electoral campaign,” the General Prosecutor’s Office stated.

The targeted companies are Flamicom Impex and RCI Leasing România SRL, through which the vehicles used by Călin Georgescu are rented. Additionally, G4Media reports that investigators are searching for evidence regarding financial transactions, bank accounts, rapid money transfer systems, and the business relationships between Marker & Senzzo Media and the two involved companies. Marker & Senzzo Media was founded by Radu Pally – Georgescu’s campaign manager – and his wife.

Radu Pally and his wife, Crenguța, are former journalists who became Călin Georgescu’s campaign managers, according to media reports from Argeș, and were also targeted in raids on February 11. The Marker & Senzzo Media company, founded by Crenguța Pally, produced the campaign advertisement video for Georgescu. In the video, the former presidential candidate is seen swimming, running, riding a white horse, and surrounded by many young people.

Judicial sources told HotNews that investigators are seizing documents from the offices of two companies in Râmnicu Vâlcea and Pitești, as well as from the homes of two of their representatives.

Călin Georgescu, Under Criminal Investigation for Six Offenses

Călin Georgescu was placed under judicial control on February 27 by prosecutors from the General Prosecutor’s Office. He is subject to several restrictions, including not being allowed to leave the country without judicial approval and being prohibited from posting content with legionary, fascist, antisemitic, racist, or xenophobic character on social media.

He is accused of devising a plan to destabilize Romania with the help of mercenaries led by Horațiu Potra, after the Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of the presidential elections for the highest office in the country.

Georgescu challenged the judicial control ruling, but the judges of the Sector 1 Court postponed the decision on Georgescu’s appeal regarding the judicial control measure until Thursday.
