Police seize new documents from Floreasca Hospital and from Puls Ambulance in Ekeng case

Police officers from the Homicide Service went on Monday to the Floreasca Hospital and to Puls Ambulance headquarters to seize documents in the file of investigating the death of footballer Patrick Ekeng, judicial sources said.

The policemen, under the coordination of the Bucharest Court Prosecutor, have seized document in the past days from the private ambulance headquarters and from FC Dinamo. Into the case of Patrick Ekeng’s death investigations are conducted for the charge of manslaughter.

On Monday the forensics institute it to perform an autopsy of the footballer.

Raed Arafat, state secretary with the Ministry of Interior, said that serious irregularities were found following the checks conducted by the Emergencies Department (DSU) on Saturday, together with the Ministry of Health after the death of FC Dinamo footballer Patrick Ekeng.

“We’ve started an inspection conducted by DSU with the Health Ministry, this action is ongoing. Tomorrow I think we’ll have several conclusions. (…) We have checked if all issues, including those provided by the Sanitary authorization, were met by the company (Puls – our note). I can say so far that they have found some serious irregularities, but I can’t say more than this until I have the final report from my colleagues. These irregularities mean that someone did not respect the laws and the regulations or after obtaining a permit it changed something and failed to further meet the approval,” Raed Arafat said, according to ‘Gazeta de Sud’.

Coroner: Footballer Patrick Ekeng died due to heart disease

FC Dinamo footballer Patrick Ekeng died of a heart condition, coroner Abdo Salem has said on Monday.

According to the doctor, following the autopsy it was found that the footballer had a heart problem. “We found the heart was bigger even for an athlete. (…) This hypertrophy predispose to arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. He had a heart problem – this was the cause of the death,” the coroner said.

He said the test results are also expected. “We concluded the first part. Now we are waiting for the tests results from the labs. If they were not needed, we wouldn’t have taken the samples. We need those results,” the doctor explained.
