Prosecutor General Expands Probe on Legionnaires, Raids in Six Counties

The Prosecutor General’s Office expands the investigation against the legionnaires. Searches in Alba, Suceava, Vrancea, Argeș, Brăila and Hunedoara, on people who published messages on social networks inciting violence, including the killing of public figures or the blowing up of public buildings.

The Public Ministry announced that it is conducting home searches regarding “illegal behaviors manifested in the online environment”. Specifically, these are people who have published messages inciting acts of violence (rioting by taking to the streets, killing public figures, blowing up public buildings, etc.) or messages that promote hatred and violence on ethnic, racial or religious grounds.

“In continuation of the action that was started last week, which aims to sanction illegal behaviors manifested in the online environment, today, December 13, 2024, seven home searches are taking place, coordinated by prosecutor’s offices in the country, namely the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Alba Court, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Câmpulung Court, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Suceava Court, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Vrancea Court, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Argeș Court, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Brăila Court. “Operational activities are carried out in a number of seven files in which investigations are carried out in terms of committing crimes of public incitement and incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination,” the statement says.

In the same context, yesterday, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Deva Court coordinated two home searches in a case in which investigations are being carried out in terms of the commission of the crime of public incitement.

“The actions aimed at combating violence in the online environment and holding persons who incite acts of violence or the commission of crimes criminally liable will continue in the coming period, with several investigations with this object being launched at the level of prosecutor’s and police units throughout the country,” the prosecutors said.
