Prosecutor’s Office notified over irregularities at the Ophthalmology Hospital in Bucharest
One day after the Health Ministry announced it would notify the anti-corruption body over irregularities at the County Hospital in Targu Mures, on Wednesday the ministry informed that it would also notify the Prosecutor’s Office related to the irregularities found at the Ophthalmology Hospital in Bucharest.
The case refers to one the hospital’s contract on a renting area for a food shop inside the medical unit. The ministry’s control body found two renting contracts, one hand typed and another one computer edited, but there were two different drafts. Therefore, the computer-edited draft lacks the article banning the underlet of the area. So the lack of this article enabled that the area could be underlet to another company, says the Health ministry.
At the same time, the ministry’s control body found that during 2007-2011, the hospital’s manager was hired by that company, which is not compliant with the law.
Another lease contract referred to let another location in the hospital for an optics repair workshop, which lacked the Health Ministry’s approval and also the Ok of the management board.
“Initially, this contract was sealed with a company in 2002, which was dissolved in 2008. In 2009, the hospital clinched a new agreement with the company dissolved in 2008 to replace the renting contract with another company owned by the same shareholders,” reads the ministry’s press release.
