Romanian hackers tracked down for USD 4.5 M frauds
A group of Romanian hackers has been dismantled by the DIICOT officers following 11 searches conducted in Mehedinti, Dolj, Hunedoara, Buzau and Timis counties on Wednesday. The hackers are suspected of causing a prejudice of USD 4.5 million to several financial and telephone companies, as well as governmental servers in Australia and Columbia.
“The members of the group used IT applications for illegally obtaining confidential banking information, e-commerce applications or information regarding credit cards,” the Directorate for Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation (DIICOT) informs.
