Tate brothers return to Romania: “We came to prove our innocence”
Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate arrived at the Ilfov County Police Inspectorate in Voluntari on Monday morning to sign the judicial control. The two brothers returned from the US to Romania on Friday night, where they are accused of human trafficking, rape and other crimes. In front of their home in Bucharest, the Tate brothers said they returned because “innocent people don’t run away from anything.”
“We came here to prove our innocence because we deserve to have our day (victory – n.r.) in court,” said Andrew Tate.
Andrew and Tristan Tate arrived at the police station in the city of Voluntari to sign the judicial control. They were accompanied by their bodyguards, as well as a supporter of the two brothers.
Although the ban on them leaving Romania has been lifted, they are still required to report to the police station under the measure of periodic judicial control, once a month, in order to prove that they comply with this measure.
After they left the police headquarters, Andrew made statements. Asked if he would return to the US, he said:
“I am not convicted of a crime, I am a free person, I can go anywhere on vacation, I can go to Greece, to Australia, wherever I want, but right now I am happy to be in Romania. This is where I live, I love Romania, I will stay here for 2 weeks, probably, until I spontaneously decide to leave. I will do this as long as I respect my judicial obligations, which I will do.”
He also stated: “They tried for three years to destroy my life, God tested me, made me go through it and I coped brilliantly.” Andrew also said that he is being investigated “everywhere around the world” because he is one of the “most important people in the world.”
Before arriving in Romania on Friday night, Andrew Tate told his 10.8 million followers on X that he had spent $185,000 on a private jet with his brother just to “sign a paper in Romania,”.
The brothers, who have dual American and British citizenship, arrived in the US in late February after Romanian prosecutors lifted a two-year travel ban on them. They told reporters that they love Romania and “will never leave,” but will take a vacation if and when they feel like it.
Andrew Tate, 38, is a self-proclaimed “misogyny” who claims to have made millions of euros from social media despite previously being banned from social media platforms for his views. He and Tristan, 36, are accused of human trafficking and forming an organized group to sexually exploit women in Romania. Andrew Tate is also accused of rape.
The brothers are the subject of a separate investigation in the UK into allegations of rape and human trafficking. In the US, they are facing a civil lawsuit brought by a woman who claims the brothers coerced her into sex work and then defamed her after she testified to Romanian authorities. They deny the allegations against them.
Romanian prosecutors have stressed that the case against the brothers has not been dropped and that they remain “under judicial control,” meaning they must report to authorities regularly.
However, the source recalls, their departure from the country has raised concerns that prosecutors were reacting to political pressure from the administration of US President Donald Trump.
The US president said he knew nothing about the release of the Tate brothers from Romania. In turn, when asked about concerns about US influence, the brothers rejected these claims. “There is no American pressure, there is only the rule of law,” the older brother told reporters.
