The disinfectants scandal also leads to the Oncological Institute in Cluj
Amid the diluted disinfectants across Romanian hospitals, new information revealed that the “Ion Chiricuta” Oncological Institute in Cluj-Napoca headed by the current Health minister Patriciu Achimaş Cadariu during 2012-2015, clenched eight contracts with Hexi Pharma on disinfectants and cleaning products, exactly during 2012-2015.
According to the Initiative Romania Civic Movement, the contracts clinched by the Oncological Institute in Cluj with Hexi Pharma, mounted to over RON 160,000.
A first contract has been sealed in February 20, 2012, totaling RON 20,160, and the last one in February 2015 reaching to RON 7,200. The institute in Cluj also sealed a RON 68,250 contract with Hexi Pharma in July 2012.
Patriciu Achimaş Cadariu was named manager of the Oncological Institute in Cluj in February 2012.
Prosecutor’s Office was notified ex-officio last week in the diluted disinfectants case after a journalistic investigation carried out by “Gazeta Sporturilor”. According to the journalists, Hexi Pharma, the company which provides the Romanian hospitals with disinfectants, used to dilute them before deliveries.
The Health Ministry also announced on April 28 that he had ordered checkings to probe into the disinfectant solutions in hospitals bought from Hexi Pharma.
In a press release, the Hexi Pharma representatives said that the products Thor and Suprasept referred in the media are used in cleansing the areas and the medical out fits. “All products in the Hexi Pharma portfolio are Okayed by the Health Ministry (….) Besides, all products are periodically checked both by Hexi Pharma, which has contracts with several independent laboratories, and by the big hospitals in the country that have their own microbiology labs.
The documents released in the article are forged, the authors did not publish the original papers or the source. Besides, the format of the document was used by Hexi Pharma five years ago. The fabrication recipe has been always strictly observed,” reads the company’s release.
