Two police officers from Pitesti arrested after the man they had immobilized died during intervention
Arges Tribunal has disposed on Monday the preventive arrest against two police officers from Pitesti, detained for abusive conduct and blunt-force trauma in the case of a man who had died while he was being evicted from a terrace, where a fire broke out.
The court admitted the prosecutors’ proposal and ordered that the defendants should be placed under preventive arrest for 30 days.
The ruling is enforceable, but it is not final and can be challenged by the Pitesti Court of Appeal.
The two police officers were detained on Sunday for abusive conduct and blunt-force trauma that caused death.
The man’s death, who died while he was evicted by policemen from a terrace in Pitesti, was a violent one, caused by a trauma and the immediate cause of the death was mechanical asphyxia, said on Sunday the chief of the Arges Medical Examiner’s Office, doctor Dan Manu, who presented the preliminary results of the autopsy.
“We determined that the death was violent, caused by a trauma and the immediate cause of the death was mechanical asphyxia, while the mechanism that prompted to that was the compression of the soft tissues of the neck and chest,” doctor Manu said.
