Lime, the innovative urban mobility provider recorded hundreds of thousands of rides for the first months of traffic in Bucharest, out of which more than 100.000 trips taken as a replacement of personal cars or ridesharing service usage, according to Lime Bucharest’s resent riders survey results.
Launched in Bucharest in the end of May 2019 with a fleet of around one thousand scooters, Lime has become an essential part of city life and was used by a wide variety of o people, and registered rides from 5 to 60 minutes for both short and long ride, reaching the distance length of up to an impressive 8-10 km.
The usage of e-scooters brings people closer to what’s around them, with a fun, convenient and efficient means to get around. Lime is building a new culture of shared smart mobility that connects people and encourages them to enjoy a new way of urban life, providing solutions to the challenges of city living.

Introducing Lime Group Feature
Lime Bucharest has recently introduced Group Ride, a new feature that allows riders to unlock up to five electric scooters on the same host account. The users must simply tap “Group Ride” located directly above the “Scan To Ride” button in your Lime app to get started. Guests can also be added on the fly, even if the host’s ride is already in progress.
“We’re thrilled to bring this highly-anticipated feature in Bucharest. With Group Ride many of our Lime riders can easily share the joys and benefits of sustainable, accessible micro mobility with their friends and family members,” added Luca Mateescu.
The feature, which was first piloted in France, Poland and Chile in June, started rolling out in more cities across Europe and Latin America this summer and was introduced for Bucharest riders just recently.
Close to the local community of riders
Lime Bucharest hosted its inaugural First Ride Academy events in Bucharest to familiarize first-time rider on how to ride scooters safely, what are the benefits of using an e-scooter, how to behave in traffic and how to properly park scooters. The events took place in public places and gathered hundreds of people that joined and actively pledged to respect the Lime Safety Rules. The 3rd First Ride Academy will take place on Saturday, 14th of September in Tineretului Park.
How Lime works
To use Lime, riders simply download the app, locate a scooter on the map, and unlock it with the tap of a button. When the ride is completed, riders simply follow in app instructions to end the ride and responsibly park it. Riding on Lime costs 3 lei to unlock and every minute of riding will be an additional 60 bani. Local Lime teams of juicers undertake maintenance, recharging and deployment of the fleet in the city.
