The court case on Liviu Dragnea, sentenced to three years and a half imprisonment for instigation to abuse of office, in challenge to the 5-judge panel with the Supreme Court, has been postponed to January 14. The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) has decided to defer 26 files with the 5-judge panels, among them the ones on Victor Ponta, Toni Grebla, Sebastian Ghita, Cristian Rizea, Viorel Hrebenciuc and Tudor Chiuariu. The ruling comes following the decision of Bucharest Court of Appeals in November to uphold the PSD leader’s challenge to cancel the High Court’s decision regarding the draw on 5-judge panels.

The court’s leading college has thus decided that all 5-judge panels to postpone the lawsuits from December to January, reports.

On July 21, the High Court sentenced Liviu Dragnea to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment for instigation to abuse of office in the DGASPC Teleorman file, regarding the fictitious employment of two employees, Adriana Botorogeanu and Anisa Niculina Stoica.
