Man released from Bucharest arrest center by mistake

A man escaped from the Bucharest Central Arrest Center on Tuesday night after he went under the guise other persons who was to be released from arrest after the detention warrant against him had expired. Later on Wednesday, the fugitive was tracked down in Bucharest and re-incarcerated. However, several police officers from the arrest center are investigated for dereliction of duty.
The man who escaped had been caught by policemen in Chirigiu Square area in Bucharest and he is now investigated also for breakout and identity forgery, the Bucharest Police informs.
He had taken the identity of another imprisoned person who was to be realeased from prison. He practically misled the agents by falsely declaring the other one’s identity.
Moreover, he put on the other man’s clothes and took his ID papers. Also profiting by a physical resemblance with the other man, he was released.
Sources from the Police unveiled that several employees of the arrest center are now investigated for dereliction of duty.
