The Mayor General of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, has announced on Tuesday that monorail lines will to be built, for 80 trams, with lines connecting Bucharest to Magurele and the northern area.
“We have already started the technical preparations, we’ll start the works for monorail line. 80 trams will be used,” Firea said during a seminar organised by the Government.
The trams will have two lines, one being Bucharest-Magurele and the other one will connect the capital city to the northern outskirts, towards Ploiesti.
Firea has also presented other projects to improve the traffic, such as extending the Domnesti passage or building a new railway station.
“Works will start soon to widen the Domnesti passage to four lanes and for a fast tram in Prelungirea Ghencea up to the Bucharest ring. A railway station will be built in these places to railway traffic on the rail ring. The railway lines in Bucharest are not used for 30 years,” Firea said.
She also mentioned the building of parking lots in the Bucharest outskirts, the park and ride type, for commuters – in Pantelimon and the exits at the crossing of the Bucharest ring with A1, A2, A3 highways, national roads DN1 up to DN 7.
