Military planes have been dispatched again to Mehedinti, on the border with Serbia, to try to put out the forest fire that broke out more than a week ago.

It is already the eighth day of action in this area. More than 100 hectares were consumed by the flames.

The affected forest is a protected area of the Iron Gates National Park.

More than 100 firefighters, foresters and volunteers, aided by two water jets, are trying to stop the advance of the flames. However, access to the area is difficult for fire engines, so those participating in the operation operate on ATVs.
