More than 1,000 magistrates sign open letter in support of justice independence
Over 1,000 magistrates have signed an open letter to support justice independence, in a period when ‘the recent public debates put in peril the justice independence and Romanian state’s path within the European Union.”
The signatories draw the attention on the fact that “currently, the incoherent address of the political factors, in a country facing endemic corruption, are joined by numerous actions of public opinion manipulation and unprecedented attacks on numerous judges and prosecutors who deal with corruption deeds, but also against important state institutions, involved in defence and public safety, mainly the National Anticorruption Directorate,” the open letter reads, according to hotnews.ro.
