Murfatlar shareholder George Ivănescu heard by DNA

Businessman George Ivănescu, one of the Murfatlar shareholders, was heard by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) on Monday in the file in which searches were conduced to the wine industry companies and to homes of several persons suspected of corruption deeds and tax evasion, file including damages of RON 600 million.

The DNA prosecutors have conducted on Monday 28 searches in Bucharest and in the counties of Constanta, Ilfov, Buzau and Prahova to the offices of wine industry companies and to homes of several persons, digi24.ro informs.

The file aims deeds during 2010-2014.

According to Sfin.ro, the network of companies targeted by the DNA has as shareholders, besides George Ivanescu, businessmen Emanuel Corneliu Dobronăuțeanu, Ion Șerban Dobronăuţeanu and Cătălin Bucura. They manage a network of dozens of domestic and offshore companies related to Murfatlar wine producer, a group having debts to the state budget of over RON 1.1 billion (approx. EUR 245 million).

Murfatlar Romania, Fermele Murfatlar, Biborțeni, Principal Company, Vitivinicola Basarabi, Hansa Distribution, Euroavipo, United Euro Distribution, Signus Romania Distribution are well-known companies managed by the businessmen. All of them are insolvent or facing bankruptcy, dealing with producing, trading and distribution of alcoholic drinks, juices, mineral water, sausages and cigarettes.
